Lecithin Pre-Wash

Lecithin is an emulsifier that comes in granule and liquid form. The liquid form of lecithin is a 'Water-in-Oil' emulsifier and the granule form works best as an 'Oil-in-Water' emulsifier. This afternoon I used Lecithin granules to make a Pre-Wash emulsification treatment to emulsify the oils in my hair making them easy to wash away. I made the treatment by placing approximately 2 teaspoons of the Lecithin granules into a glass jar and covering them with approximately 30 millilitres of boiling water. I stirred the mixture until all of the granules had dissolved making the water thicker.

I applied the mixture to my hair before wetting it with water because I didn't want additional water to dilute down the mixture reducing it's effectiveness. I massaged the Lecithin mixture into my hair and scalp for a few minutes then I rinsed with warm water. As I still had more of the mixture left I repeated the procedure for a second time before cleansing my hair with a sulfate-free shampoo. The Lecithin mixture did a great job at removing the Mineral Oil from my hair but it was slightly drying so I will probably add some conditioning ingredients the next time that I make the mixture.
