Styling My TWA
The above picture was taken on Sunday and it got me thinking that my hair was ready to be worn in a protective style. I tried a few finger coils but they were taking too long to do because I had to do small sections to prevent unravelling. The next day I tried a few two strand twists but gave up because it was too time consuming. Today I decided to comb my hair out and wear a TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro).
I washed and conditioned my hair as usual then I applied S-CURL Lite Curl Activator Jel followed by my homemade conditioning balm. Once my hair was partially dry I combed it out with a detangling comb followed by a wide tooth comb. I wasn't happy with the results because my hair kept trying to coil up because of the humectants in the curl activator jel.
Since my hair was eager to coil up I decided to apply some Aunt Jackie's Don't Shrink Flaxseed Curling Gel to provide a light film around the coils. After applying the gel I swirled my hand around my hair to help the coils to form. I did this for less than a minute and left my hair to air dry. It took a while for my hair to dry and it's still slightly damp in the above picture. Nonetheless, my hair feels soft and moisturised so I'm happy with the results.
